China completes pesticide inspection centre
China's new pesticide quality and safety inspection centre has passed a final inspection and been signed off by the relevant authorities, the ICAMA reports. It was constructed by the Ministry of Agriculture's Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals. The inspection was carried out by China's Bureau of Quality and Safety Supervision for Agro-products. The centre has been finished to specifications and has already entered into operation. The ICAMA says that the centre has testing parameters for 406 pesticides and residues, and the capacity to test some 30,000 samples annually. It will “significantly improve” the country's ability to monitor pesticide safety, respond to safety incidents and provide early warnings against pesticide environmental hazards, the ICAMA adds.
