EU's CSA calls for states to justify GM bans

EU member states that have banned GM crops should be obliged to say why they have rejected evidence of their safety, says the European Commission’s chief scientific adviser (CSA), Anne Glover. In an interview with EurActiv, Glover reiterated her support for GM crops pointing out that there was no substantiated case of adverse impact on human, animal or environmental health, that GM crops were no riskier than their conventionally farmed equivalents, and that the precautionary principle was no longer applicable.
