Nufarm/Starpharma sign technology deal
Nufarm has signed an agreement with Australian dendrimer molecular technology company Starpharma (Melbourne) to apply Starpharma’s Priostar dendrimer technology to develop crop protection formulations for Nufarm’s product portfolio. The companies say that Priostar has wide applicability in the agrochemical sector including benefits to agrochemical formulators and growers such as: more concentrated formulations to reduce transport costs; reduction in solvent loading; improved overall activity; and increased adhesion, to reduce losses due to rain run-off and the need for multiple applications. Dendrimers are man-made, nanoscale compounds constructed by the successive addition of layers of branching groups. “This collaboration with Starpharma reflects Nufarm’s renewed emphasis on technological innovation,” says Nufarm Australia's general manager, Lachlan McKinnon.
