Dow opens expanded US seed facility
Dow AgroSciences has opened its new US maize and soybean seed research and development facility in Olivia, Minnesota. The opening also marks relocation from Dow’s previous facility in Olivia. The decision to change locations came from the growth opportunities and research needs at the Olivia site, the company says. The new site features several increased capabilities including accommodations for soybean breeding and an expansion dedicated to maize research. It includes two buildings containing offices, seed laboratories and equipment storage, and several field locations. A number of new positions were added this year, with plans to continue increasing employment over the next five years. Construction of the site began in October 2010 ( Agrow No 607, p 7).
