New Zealand mulls aquatic weed controls
The New Zealand Environmental Protection Authority has received an application to extend the use of four herbicide active ingredients to control aquatic weeds. They are haloxyfop-R-methyl, imazapyr isopropylamine, metsulfuron-methyl and triclopyr triethylamine. The application was submitted by the Agrichemical Reassessment Group (ARG) on behalf of 12 regional councils, three central government organisations and one state-owned enterprise. The use of the herbicides over water will complement existing methods used by ARG members to meet their obligations to control invasive weeds, the application states. It is open to public comment until September 11th.
