EU to extend biopesticide prov approvals
Three-year national provisional approvals held by Austrian company Bio-ferm for its biopesticide, Aureobasidium pullulans, in the EU are set to be extended for two-years. The European Commission’s proposal, made due to extra time needed to complete the EU evaluation, was supported by the EU regulatory committee in July. A pullulans is for use against bacterial diseases in fruit and holds provisional approvals in Austria, Belgium, France and Hungary. The active ingredient is among several new ais for which strict deadlines were assigned to processing draft assessment reports earlier this year ( Agrow No 635, p 8).
