Australia to OK BASF's MBREX fungicide
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has proposed the approval of BASF’s fungicide, MBREX (fluxapyroxad – trade-marked as Xemium), for use on barley. The APVMA recommended the authorisation of fluxapyroxad as a new active ingredient in January ( Agrow No 632, p 18). Fluxapyroxad received its first approval in the UK in October 2011, with further registrations later in the month in France and Germany for use on cereals ( Agrow No 627, p 25). BASF received US approval for the ai in combination with pyraclostrobin this year ( Agrow No 640, p 21). The APVMA decision is subject to public comment until September 12th.
