Canada OKs Syngenta's Agrisure 3220 E-Z Refuge
Syngenta has received approval from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency for its genetically modified insect-resistant Agrisure 3220 E-Z Refuge maize. It provides dual modes of action against above- and below-ground pests with a 5% blended refuge in the bag. Agrisure 3220 E-Z Refuge combines Syngenta’s MIR162 ( Bt Vip3A toxin), Bt11 (Cry1Ab) and Dow AgroSciences/DuPont’s Herculex 1 (Cry1F), with tolerance to the herbicides, glyphosate and glufosinate-ammonium. Syngenta received US EPA approval for the product last month ( Agrow No 644, p 20). Agrisure 3220 E-Z Refuge will be available in limited quantities in Canada for the 2013 season.
