Australasia OKs MON88302 canola

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has recommended the approval of Monsanto’s genetically modified glyphosate-tolerant MON88302 canola. It tolerates higher levels of glyphosate herbicide and permits greater flexibility in glyphosate applications than first-generation Roundup Ready canola, the company states. FSANZ began its assessment of the canola line in April ( Agrow No 639, p 22). Monsanto plans to launch it as TruFlex Roundup Ready canola in Canada in 2014 ( Agrow No 643, p 19). The FSANZ assessment is open to public comment until September 27th.
