Australia to OK DuPont's Fontelis

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has proposed the approval of DuPont’s fungicide, Fontelis (Mitsui Chemicals’ penthiopyrad), for use on various fruit and vegetable crops. Penthiopyrad would be a new active ingredient in Australia. DuPont licensed penthiopyrad from Mitsui Chemicals in 2007 for sale in Australasia, the Americas and Europe ( Agrow No 512, p 1). The fungicide underwent a joint review in Australia, the US, Canada and the UK. It was approved in Canada in late 2011 ( Agrow No 629, p 25) and in the US earlier this year ( Agrow No 636, p 21). The APVMA’s approval decision is open to comment until September 25th.
