BASF launches Orquesta Ultra in Argentina
BASF has launched its first fluxapyroxad (trade-marked as Xemium)-based fungicide in Argentina. Orquesta Ultra (fluxapyroxad 50 g/litre+ epoxiconazole 50 g/litre + pyraclostrobin - trade-marked as F500 - 81 g/litre) was unveiled earlier this month for use on soybeans. It is an emulsifiable concentrate formulation for the control of a wide range of diseases including soybean leaf spot ( Septoria glycines), frog eye leaf spot ( Cercospora sojina), leaf blight ( C kikuchii), leaf spot ( Corynespora spp) and Asian soybean rust ( Phakopsora pachyryzii) at 0.8 litre/ha. The product provides preventive and curative control, the company says. BASF had promised a 2012 debut for fluxapyroxad on soybeans ( Agrow No 642, p 24). It gained US approval this year in combination fungicides on several crops ( Agrow No 640, p 21), and received its first registration in the UK in October last year ( Agrow No 627, p 25).
