Another year's use for azinphos in US

The US EPA is to allow farmers to use their existing stocks of the organophosphate insecticide, azinphos-methyl, for another year. The Agency has maintained the September 30th 2012 cancellation date for the remaining uses of azinphos-methyl on apples, blueberries, cherries, parsley and pears, but unused stocks can be applied until September 30th 2013. The move follows unusual weather conditions this year, which prevented crop development in some areas, leaving affected growers with unused quantities of insecticides, including azinphos-methyl.
