Koppert opens South African branch
Dutch bioproducts company Koppert Biological Systems (Berkel en Rodenrijs) has opened a branch in South Africa. The branch is a joint venture with Koppert’s former distribution partner, Vista Verde, and will focus primarily on sales of biological control agents and biopesticides for greenhouse cultivation of vegetables and flowers. “The use of the most important natural enemies has already been authorised and these products are available on a weekly basis,” Koppert says. It expects other approvals to come “quickly”, leading to a “complete package of biological beneficials” becoming available for agriculture and horticulture. The company cites South Africa’s strong general economic development for its choosing the country for its third African site. The others are in Kenya and Morocco. Koppert recently opened a branch in Greece ( Agrow No 644, p 6).
