DuPont confirms AcreMax XTreme plans

DuPont seed subsidiary DuPont Pioneer has confirmed plans to launch its genetically modified insect-resistant “refuge-in-a-bag” maize, Optimum AcreMax Xtreme, in the US and Canada in 2013. The company has received all the necessary import approvals in major world markets. It received approval to grow the crop in Canada in late 2011 and in the US earlier this year ( Agrow No 636, p 20). Each bag of seed blends 95% DuPont/Dow AgroSciences’ Herculex Xtra (DAS59122xTC1507) pyramided with Monsanto’s YieldGard Corn Borer (MON810) and Syngenta’s Agrisure RW (MIR604) with 5% non- Bt maize as the integrated refuge. All of the seed is tolerant to the herbicides, glyphosate and glufosinate-ammonium.
