Canada acts on fumigant cluster
The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has laid down numerous label changes for the soil fumigants, chloropicrin, dazomet, metam sodium and metam potassium. The measures are aimed at further limiting user exposure and protecting bystanders and the environment. They are seen as a “first step” in the ongoing re-evaluation of this cluster of fumigants, the PMRA points out. The US EPA introduced restrictions in 2010 ( Agrow No 569, p 19).
