EFSA refutes Luxembourg GM potato ban

Luxembourg has failed to provide sufficient scientific evidence to support its ban on the cultivation of BASF’s genetically modified improved starch Amflora potato line (EH92-527-1), concludes the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). Amflora gained EU cultivation approval in 2010 ( Agrow No 587, p 12). Luxembourg invoked the safeguard clause under the EU GMO registration Directive (2001/18) in July 2011.
