PHC ProAct/triazole sprays beat expectations

Foliar sprays of US-based, UK-listed bioproducts company Plant Health Care’s (PHC – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) harpin-based product, ProAct, in mixture with triazole fungicides, were made to some 200,000 acres (80,900 ha) of crops in the US this year. That was four times greater than initial expectations, the company says. It attributes the result to 2011 trials showing the combination delivering good or better maize yields than a strobilurin fungicide treatment, and a marketing campaign aimed at reducing the risk of resistance to strobilurins.
