French regulators reject GMO feeding study

The French official biosafety body, the High Council of Biotechnologies (HCB), and the national agency for health security, the Anses, have rejected the claims of a French study about harmful effects to rats from exposure to the herbicide, glyphosate, and Monsanto’s genetically modified glyphosate-tolerant NK603 maize at levels considered safe to humans. The study was published last month and the French Agriculture Minister had asked the two bodies for their opinions ( Agrow No 649, p 11).
