Australia to approve Bayer's penflufen
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has proposed the approval of Bayer CropScience’s fungicidal seed treatment, Evergol Prime Seed Treatment (penflufen 240 g/litre), for use on wheat and barley. It is for the suppression of root rot ( Rhizoctonia spp) and the control or suppression of smut diseases. The application was reviewed jointly with the authorities in the US and Canada. Penflufen received its first global approval in the UK last year and was approved in Canada and the US this year ( Agrow No 641, p 20). The Australian approval decision is open to public comment until November 20th.
