Australia debuts unique agchem iPhone app
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has released an iPhone application listing information on all registered agricultural and veterinary chemicals in the country. It is thought to be a world first, giving access to a searchable database of 10,500 chemicals from a mobile phone, the APVMA says. Searches allow farmers to find a product to treat a specific pest and to find information about active ingredients, labels, pack sizes and withholding periods, the Authority adds. It also provides information on products that have been suspended or cancelled. A version for use on Android phones is also being developed.
