ECHA warns on dossiers for intermediates
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has warned of “serious quality and potential compliance concerns” regarding registration dossiers submitted for intermediates. It has asked 574 registrants to review and update their documentation submitted under the EU Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH) Regulation, which covers agrochemical intermediates. REACH allows reduced data requirements for intermediates manufactured and used under controlled conditions. However, an ECHA screening exercise of around 5,500 dossiers revealed that 2,388 included uses that did not, or are very unlikely to, fulfil the criteria. They represented 760 substances.
