Brazil H1 agchem sales soar
The Brazilian agrochemical market jumped by about 45% to some R$5,000 million (US$2,448 million at the current rate) in the first half of 2012, compared with the same period last year, the Ministry of Agriculture reports. It cites figures that the agrochemical industry association, the Andef, revealed at the monthly meeting between industry and the Ministry’s chamber of agricultural inputs, the CTIA. Sales of each of the insecticide and herbicide segments rose by more than half to R$1,800 million (US$881 million), and R$1,900 million (US$930 million), respectively, the Ministry adds. The increase was led by products for use on soybeans, maize, cotton, beans and sugar cane.
