Argentina suspends Monsanto licence
The Argentine tax authorities have reportedly suspended Monsanto’s operating licence as a “distributor of grains” while it is being investigated into suspected tax avoidance. Monsanto has rejected reports that it has failed to pay national taxes. The Argentine tax and trading authority, the AFIP, suspended Monsanto’s “fiscal registration as a grain operator” last month, national newspaper Clarin reports. The company says it has not been “formally informed by the authorities” of its suspension.
