EFSA updates 1507 maize opinion
There has been no new scientific evidence that would invalidate previous positive safety assessments of the cultivation of DuPont/Dow AgroSciences’ genetically modified Herculex I (1507) maize, says the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). The EFSA’s original evaluation of the application for cultivation approval was in 2005. It has issued several updates since then in response to requests from the European Commission for a review of the Authority’s safety clearance of the GM line. The latest opinion is in response to yet another request by the Commission earlier this year ( Agrow No 646, p 14).
