Canada clears malathion use
The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has concluded that the insecticide, malathion, is eligible for continuing sale and use in the country. However, some uses are being phased out because they are no longer supported by the technical registrant, Cheminova. They include certain greenhouse food and non-food crops, seed treatments, applications to recreational areas and various structural treatments. The PMRA cleared malathion applications for area-wide mosquito control in a partial reassessment in 2003 ( Agrow No 427, p 16).
