Syngenta to buy Sunfield Seeds
Syngenta has agreed to acquire the US seed company, Sunfield Seeds (Chico, California), for an undisclosed sum. The company provides sunflower seed production and processing services in over 30 countries. The deal represents an important step in Syngenta’s sunflower strategy by strengthening supply chain capabilities to enable future growth, Syngenta points out. The global sunflower seed market is worth around $1,000 million, with more than 75% coming from emerging markets, where the transition to high-value hybrid seed continues, Syngenta adds. The deal is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
