Brazilian regulator fired over agchem corruption probe

The director of Brazil’s official toxicology authority has been dismissed after making official complaints of corruption in the approval of pesticide products. General manager Luiz Claudio Meirelles of the national health surveillance agency, the Anvisa’s, toxicology board GGTOX left his post earlier this month after reporting suspected irregularities in the registration of several pesticides. The agency’s management considered he had not acted sufficiently rapidly and openly in reporting the concerns.
