US cancellation of iodomethane approvals
The US EPA has notified receipt of a request from Arysta LifeScience to cancel all registrations of its fumigant, iodomethane. Approvals of the iodemethane/chloropicrin-based products, Midas 98:2, Midas 50:50, Midas 33:67, Midas EC Bronze and Midas EC Gold, would end on December 31st 2012 and the technical registration for iodomethane would be cancelled from December 1st 2015. An amendment to the technical registration would allow the fumigant’s use only in products intended for export. Arysta suspended US sales of iodomethane earlier this year on the grounds of its lack of “economic viability” ( Agrow No 637, p 2).
