EFSA rejects French GMO study

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has completely rejected the French study claiming harmful effects to rats from exposure to the herbicide, glyphosate, and Monsanto’s genetically modified glyphosate-tolerant NK603 maize at levels considered safe to humans. Reaffirming its earlier assessment ( Agrow No 650, p 10), the Authority says that the authors’ conclusions cannot be regarded as scientifically sound because of inadequacies in the design, reporting and analysis of the study as outlined in the paper. Consequently, it is not possible to draw valid conclusions about the occurrence of tumours in the rats tested, it adds.
