Canada approves TreeAzin insecticide
The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency has approved the Canadian Forest Service’s azadirachtin-based insecticide, TreeAzin, for the control of emerald ash borers ( Agrilus planipennis) and other insect pests on trees. TreeAzin was developed in collaboration with Canadian company BioForest Technologies (Marie, Ontario), which distributes the product in the US and Canada. It is applied by trunk injection. TreeAzin has had an emergency registration for emerald ash borer control in Ontario since 2008 and has been approved in the US since then, BioForest points out.
