New Zealand OKs aquatic herbicide uses
The New Zealand Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has approved an application to extend the use of four herbicides to control aquatic weeds. They are haloxyfop-R-methyl, imazapyr isopropylamine, metsulfuron-methyl and triclopyr triethylamine. The application was submitted by the Agrichemical Reassessment Group on behalf of 12 regional councils, three central government organisations and one state-owned enterprise ( Agrow No 646, p 31). The EPA has set a number of conditions on the aquatic use of the herbicides, including exposure limits, site-specific considerations, notification and warning signs, incident reporting, and annual reporting of applications to the Authority.
