Monsanto looks at PhaseRx delivery technology
Monsanto has entered into a funded technology evaluation agreement with the US RNAi delivery technology company, PhaseRx (Seattle, Washington). Monsanto will examine PhaseRx’s proprietary “SMARTT Polymer Technology” for agricultural applications. The technology is based on multifunctional polymers licensed from the University of Washington for the delivery of RNAi-based pharmaceuticals. The Monsanto deal is PhaseRx’s first move into agriculture. Monsanto is developing RNAi-based biopesticides under its BioDirect platform ( Agrow No 641, p 2).
