ECHA invites industry role in biocide work
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) is inviting organisations whose members represent biocide-related sectors to indicate their interest in participating in the ECHA’s work in the area. Activities may include participation in meetings of the EU biocidal products committee, scientific consultations, and updating guidance documents. The move comes as the ECHA prepares to take on its role as regulatory authority, including the registration of non-crop pesticides, under the new EU biocidal products Regulation (528/2012). The Regulation will be implemented in EU member states from September 1st ( Agrow No 646, p 13). To qualify, organisations must become an ECHA Accredited Stakeholder Organisation. The ECHA already has 64 such organisations, including the European Crop Protection Association.
