NPDES bill returns to US Senate

US Senators have once again introduced legislation aimed at eliminating the need for Clean Water Act (CWA) permits for pesticides applied to, over or near water. Senators Pat Roberts and Mike Johanns and nine co-sponsors introduced S 175 on January 29th. It seeks to amend the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) to eliminate the need for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits for pesticide use approved under the FIFRA.
