German MRL violations flat in 2011
Pesticide maximum residue limit (MRL) violations in food tested in Germany in 2011 were found in 2.7% of samples, reveal figures collected by the federal office for consumer protection and food safety, the BVL. That was the same level as in 2010 ( Agrow No 640, p 10). Residues below MRLs were found in 57.5% of samples, compared with 55.9% in 2010. The percentage of samples with no measurable residues went down from 41.4% to 39.8%.
