Nufarm acquires 51% stake in Brazil seed co
Nufarm Brazilian subsidiary Nuseed do Brasil (Curitiba) has acquired a majority holding in Brazilian sunflower and sorghum seed supplier Atlantica Sementes. The company paid R$25 million (US$12.6 million) for a 51% stake in the business. Atlantica’s annual sales total some R$25 million and it employs 45 people at two locations in the country. The deal provides Nuseed with the capability to supply existing hybrids and leverage development programmes in Australia, Argentina and the US, Nufarm says. The acquisition also provides “an important base in the growing Brazilian market”, it adds.
