Dow seeks US approval for new herbicide

The US EPA has notified receipt of an application from Dow AgroSciences to register a herbicide based on the new active ingredient, halauxifen-methyl, for use on small-grain cereals such as wheat, barley and triticale. Halauxifen-methyl is a picolinic acid herbicide being developed under the codes, DE-729, XDE-729 and XR-729, according to the Compendium of Pesticide Common Names. Halauxifen-methyl received provisional approval from the ISO Technical Committee on Common Names for Pesticides in November 2011.
