US exemption sought for Arysta's Kasumin
The US EPA has received another request from the Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDA) to use Arysta LifeScience’s unregistered bactericide, Kasumin 2L (kasugamycin 2.3%) to control streptomycin-resistant fireblight ( Erwinia amylovora) on apples. It is seeking an emergency exemption for use of the product on up to 10,000 acres (4,047 ha) of apples between April 1st and May 31st. The MDA has received exemptions for the last four years. The Canadian authorities proposed the approval of Kasumin 2L in November 2012 ( Agrow No 654, p 19).
