Isagro/Syngenta ink biofungicide deal

Italian agrochemical company Isagro (Milan) has agreed a regionally exclusive distribution deal with Syngenta for its Trichoderma asperellum and T gamsii-based biofungicide. The arrangement covers Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Isagro’s product is sold as Remedier, but Syngenta has the right to distribute it exclusively under its own trade mark “in most countries” in the region that is covered, and excluding Italy. That includes integrated products with Syngenta’s chemical fungicides. The companies will also collaborate on registration activities. Isagro CEO and president Giorgio Basile notes: “This agreement confirms our commitment to the discovery of new molecules and biocontrols and establishes a long-term alliance with an industry leader.” Isagro’s Remedier is a highly effective broad-spectrum product for the control of soil diseases at low application rates and is compatible with many chemical fungicides for IPM strategies, the company says. Isagro appointed US biopesticide company AgraQuest (has since become part of Bayer CropScience) as US distributor of the biofungicide under the Bio-Tam name last year ( Agrow No 641, p 8)
