Koppert sets up Indian subsidiary
Dutch bioproducts company Koppert Biological Systems (Berkel en Rodenrijs) has opened an Indian subsidiary, Koppert India, at Bangalore in southern India. The climate of the city is favourable for horticulture and the number of greenhouses is increasing rapidly, the company says. Its sales focus will primarily be on natural enemies and microbiological products for greenhouse cultivation of vegetables and flowers. Koppert expects below- and above-ground biological crop protection to become available for the whole of India over the coming years. “There is a huge demand for natural and biological solutions in a market in which the majority of the population is vegetarian,” says Koppert managing director Henri Oosthoek.
