Brazil to mull new crops for GMO approvals in 2013

A fresh batch of genetically modified crops combining at least two traits is to be considered for approval by the Brazilian biosafety commission, the CTNBio, this year, the Ministry of Science reports. The CTNBio will also consider approval decisions on crops that have yet to have gained any commercial authorisations, including eucalyptus and sugar cane, its chairman, Flavio Finardi Filho, said at the commission’s February meeting.
