China's Zhengbang Group invests in pesticide plant
Chinese chemical company Zhengbang Group has signed a deal to construct a Yuan 1,020 million ($162 million at the current rate) pesticide plant in China's south-eastern province of Jiangxi, according to local Chinese media reports. Work on the plant is expected to begin next month, with a tentative completion date of the end of 2014. Once up and running, the facility will have a total annual capacity of 35,000 tonnes of active ingredients and a “water-based, environmental pesticide formulation”, the report adds. Annual output value of the plant is put in the region of Yuan 2,040 million ($324 million). Zhengbang Group is a large-scale pesticide manufacturer, with agrochemical subsidiaries that have an annual production capacity of 2,500 tonnes for the insecticide, triazophos, and 1,500 tonnes for the herbicide, butralin, among other ais.
