US approval for Valent's Rizolex

Sumitomo Chemical’s US subsidiary, Valent USA Corporation (Walnut Creek, California), has confirmed the US approval of its seed treatment, Rizolex (tolclofos-methyl 500 g/litre), for use on maize, sorghum, soybeans, cotton and sugar beet. It provides broad-spectrum control of soil-, seed-borne and seedling diseases including Rhizoctonia spp and Fusarium spp, the company notes. The EPA proposed the approval in December 2012 ( Agrow No 655, p 21). Tolclofos-methyl is a new active ingredient in the US, but it has been on the market elsewhere since the 1980s.
