Guidance on EU emergency approvals

The European Commission has issued a working document on guidance relating to emergency authorisations of agrochemicals. The guidelines were among several being prepared last year as part of the ongoing implementation of the EU agrochemical registration Regulation (1107/2009 – Agrow No 654, p 6). They cover procedures for member states to grant an approval without waiting for the normal registration process, because there is a danger to plant production and ecosystems that cannot be contained by any other reasonable means. Such approvals are limited to 120 days.
