KIM-C1 seeks US EUP for forchlorfenuron

The US company, KIM-C1 (Fresno, California), has applied for an experimental use permit (EUP) to test the plant growth regulator, forchlorfenuron, on fruit and nut crops. The EUP would cover 1,935 acres (783 ha) of almonds, pistachios, cherries, figs and plums between 2013 and 2015. Sumitomo Chemical subsidiary Valent USA Corporation (Walnut Creek, California) introduced forchlorfenuron in the US as Prestige for use on grapevines and kiwi fruit under an agreement with KIM-C1 in 2005 ( Agrow No 467, p 22).
