UK Minister makes a case for GM crops

Agriculture in the UK is a “high-tech industry” needing “high-tech solutions” to problems and farmers need access to all tools, including genetically modified crops, to produce food as efficiently and sustainably as possible. That was the message of the UK Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Owen Paterson, to farmers at the UK National Farmers Union annual conference in Birmingham. He called upon farmers to work collectively to improve market conditions for innovative GM product applications.
