Arysta debuts Centurion in Brazil
Arysta LifeScience has launched the systemic post-emergence herbicide, Centurion (clethodim), for use on sugar cane in Brazil. Centurion is an emulsifiable concentrate formulation that works as a ripener that enhances sucrose levels in the plant, the company says. It works in anticipation of the maturation process of sugar cane at the start or as maintainer at the end of the season. Arysta is confident of success in the cane sector. It claims “great success” with its herbicide, Dinamic (amicarbazone), and liquid fertiliser, Biozyme, and while noting that the plant’s pesticide market is worth $1,000 million and expected to grow by 12-15% this year. The company further notes that it has a 4% share of the national pesticide market, which is estimated at some $9,000 million for 2012 ( Agrow No 657, p 11).
