EU adds risk mitigation conditions to two ais

New risk mitigation conditions will apply from February 1st 2014 for the plant growth regulator, ethylene, and from July 1st 2013 for the disinfectant, sodium hypochlorite. The formal decisions by the European Commission follow the completion of peer reviews of the active ingredients by the European Food Safety Authority ( Agrow No 658, p 7). Ethylene product approvals will require checks on the specification and the protection of operators, workers and bystanders. Sodium hypochlorite will require measures to protect operators and workers, and to avoid the spread of treated compost on organic land. Both ais gained EU agrochemical approval in 2008.
