MBI files for patent on Bacillus strain
The US biopesticide company, Marrone Bio Innovations (MBI - Davis, California), has filed a patent application on a new Bacillus spp strain, F727, to the US Patent and Trademark Office. The anti-fungal compounds produced by this new strain are different than those from current commercial Bacillus spp biofungicide products, the company says. It shows a high level of activity against a broad range of fungal and bacterial plant pathogens. The strain displays consistent fungicidal activity against grey mould ( Botrytis cinerea) and downy mildews, MBI notes.
