FieldWatch takes over US DriftWatch initiative
A non-profit US company, FieldWatch (West Lafayette, Indiana), has assumed operational responsibility for the DriftWatch online registry of pesticide-sensitive crops. The system allows pesticide applicators to identify where such crops are grown as part of stewardship activities. It was developed by the Office of the Indiana State Chemist in collaboration with Purdue University ( Agrow No 615, p 22). The initiative operates in nine states, primarily in the Mid-West. “Our vision is to become a nationally recognised specialty crop registry for producers, applicators and other key stakeholders across the country,” says FieldWatch president and CEO Reid Sprenkel.
